Bigfoot Revealed…?

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Today the world of zoology, crypto or otherwise, could be set to change forever at a press conference which promises to unveil ‘conclusive proof’ of the existence of Bigfoot.

On 12 August 2008, a press release was issued claiming that the body of the creature commonly known as Bigfoot, had been found in a woodland area in Northern Georgia by Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer.

A few low-resolution photographs have subsequently been released, showing what appears to be the corpse of a large hominoid lying in a freezer. Although Whitton and Dyer have refused to reveal the actual body, a press conference is to be held in California this afternoon which promises DNA details and more photographic evidence. The claim is being supported by Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi, CEO of Searching for Bigfoot Inc, who will be present at the conference.

As a crypto-enthusiast, I would absolutely LOVE these images to be legitimate, but I’m sad to say I am 101% certain that this is yet another hoax. For starters the ‘creature’ in the images looks nothing more than a run of the mill Bigfoot costume, featuring rather synthetic looking fur and face, with a few joke shop guts thrown in for good measure.

The fact that the images are of such poor quality to begin with is also highly suspect in my opinion. Nearly everyone and his dog has access to a high resolution digital camera these days, whether it be on your mobile phone, a Digital SLR or a cheap hand-held! There is absolutely no excuse for taking a poor quality photo, especially if your subject is of a static object that you have immediate access to! So why did the Whitton and Dyer decide to release such bad images as proof of such a ‘historic discovery’? Perhaps to obscure any sloppy stitching on Bigfoot’s hide?

These points coupled with the fact that the pair are not actually presenting the world with the ACTUAL body, doesn’t really fill me with confidence that these guys are telling the truth!

But I suppose I’ll have wait until 12:00 PDT to find out…

Update 17 August 2008: What a surprise. The conference turned out to be a complete bust - revealing a big fat nothing in regards to evidence.

Even though no new information about the discovery was revealed, Whitton, Dyer and Biscardi have yet to admit that the story was a hoax, and gave the excuse that they are withholding information in case the Bigfoot creature is a member of an endangered species. Time wasters.
